The Root & Revel • Great House Pavilion
The Great House
of Guardian
From stone we guard, from flame we endure.
Step beneath the iron lintel. The air is cooler here, the timber darker, and every hinge, lantern and stone seems made with the expectation that it will outlive its maker.
Enter the HallThe work of keeping
Some things are made to be held.
Others are made to hold.
Guardians are keepers before they are defenders. Their craft is stewardship: of hearths, boundaries, tools, memory, stores, travelers and all that has been placed in their care.
Within the pavilion, stonework rises waist-high beneath massive timber framing. Iron straps cross the beams. Lanterns burn behind patterned glass. Niches and deep shelves wait for artifacts whose purpose is not merely possession, but keeping.
Stone
Grounded foundations, thresholds and weight-bearing forms.
Iron
Hand-forged hinges, brackets, sconces and protective latticework.
Timber
Dark, broad beams bearing the marks of generations of hands.
Light
Amber lantern flame with small glints of EWF teal through old glass.
The shelves are being prepared
Guardian Wares
The merchants have not unpacked yet.
Artifacts will appear here only when they have earned their place within Guardian. The pavilion will not be filled merely for the sake of filling shelves.
Canon determines commerce. From the pavilion keeper
A thing worth keeping should be worth knowing.
When Guardian artifacts begin arriving, each will carry more than a price and description. Travelers should know what it is, why it exists in the Realm, how it is used, and whose hands might have made such a thing.
